MMS Education joined numerous companies and organizations across the country in welcoming the children of its employees during the national Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 24, 2014.

The children in attendance this year ranged in age from 4 to 14. Participating in a full day of events, they received one-on-one time with CEO Susan Meell, acted as reporters to interview their parents, and tested some of our clients’ products.

The children also left with valuable insight about what their parents do while at work. After completing their parent interviews, the children reported that their parents “help customers with their problems,” “fix issues for clients,” and “run the schedule so the client is happy.” The children also came to understand that people don’t only work “to make money,” but also to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in what they do.

Susan Meell notes, “We really enjoy hosting this event every year – our employees report that their children gain a new understanding and appreciation for what they do every day. On a more personal note, I believe it is so important for young people to understand that ‘work’ can be extremely rewarding and fulfilling, and it is never too early to begin preparing and thinking about what they want to do when they grow up. And for the record, this year we had two aspiring rock stars, one veterinarian, one teacher and many ‘I don’t knows’.”
