About Debra-Jean:
Debra-Jean joined MMS Education in 2013. As Director of Marketing and Communications, Debra-Jean is responsible for strategic planning for marketing initiatives and content development to help clients reach their program and product goals.
Debra-Jean’s favorite part of her role is seeing MMS efforts make a positive, direct impact on youth. She finds joy in the team’s client work, which enables MMS’s clients to bring funding, meals and more to schools, youth and educators across the nation.
Prior to joining MMS, Debra-Jean earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from Northeastern University. She went on to spend seven years working for MSNBC as part of the technical operations team, supporting live broadcasts of The Rachel Maddow Show, Hardball with Chris Matthews, Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Imus in the Morning. Debra-Jean’s experience at a national news outlet allowed her to focus on the big picture, and she brings this same purpose-driven approach to her work at MMS, from collaborating with clients to building cohesive, intentional strategies.
In her free time, Debra-Jean enjoys sewing, playing guitar and piano, and taking on various home projects such as rehabilitating old furniture.
Childhood Dream Job: Veterinarian
If Debra-Jean had a million dollars to spend on helping students: Debra-Jean would invest all $1 million and allow it to grow into a national education fund. The fund would focus on bringing greater equity to public education across the nation and on providing long-term, sustainable solutions to barriers students face.
