MMS Education Helps Plan and Produce National Webcast on School Wellness

3/16/2009

A panel of the nation’s top health and education leaders convened in December 2008 for a live national webcast to set a course for helping schools improve children’s health. MMS Education helped plan and produce the webcast, titled “Call to Leadership: Elevating School Wellness to a Higher Priority,” on behalf of Action for Healthy Kids. The 75-minute event attracted nearly 2,500 participants, a third of whom were school administrators; the event continues to be available online. During the webcast, experts discussed the urgency to create healthier schools in America, how to engage school and community leaders as allies, and overcoming systemic barriers. The panelists also offered examples of breakthrough leadership. MMS worked with Action for Healthy Kids to plan the content of the webcast, identify and recruit panelists, coordinate the technical platform, market the webcast, register viewers, and conduct post-event evaluation.

The entire webcast, as well as archived segments, is free and available at www.ActionForHealthyKids.org. Click here to access the webcast.

Action for Healthy Kids is a national nonprofit organization that addresses the epidemic of overweight, undernourished and sedentary youth by focusing on improving nutrition and physical activity policies and practices in schools.
