Media Management Services Transitions to MMS Education

6/15/2004

NEWTOWN, Pa., June 15, 2004 — Media Management Services, Inc. — specialists in education market consulting, market research, marketing and sales — has announced that it will operate as MMS Education, effective immediately. Its portfolio of services and its management team remain unchanged.

Founded in 1977 by former educator and media executive Edward J. Meell, Media Management Services has built its reputation on helping blue-chip clients reach the U.S. education market. During its 27-year history, the company has worked with some of the nation's leading media companies, corporate foundations, educational publishers, assessment companies, nonprofits and other organizations to help them strategize and fully implement marketing, sales, market research and outreach programs targeted to K-12 and higher education.

Susan Keipper, who became CEO in 1999, continues the company's tradition of providing customized services and solutions to clients interested and involved in education. Says Keipper, "For years, people referred to Media Management Services as, simply, 'MMS.' Now, we've made that shorthand official and have added an important qualifier that sums up everything we're about: Education. The name MMS Education reinforces our commitment to the education market as our singular area of focus."

Among some of the company's current and recent clients are Disney Educational Productions, Educational Testing Service, National Dairy Council, Pearson Education, National Science Foundation, PBS, Fortune Magazine, Verizon, National Endowment for the Humanities, MCI Foundation and many others.

Recently, the company has:

  • Created partnerships with state education agencies and provided logistics support for professional development training for MCI Foundation's Internet outreach program, MarcoPolo.
  • Represented Disney Educational Productions to elementary and secondary educators nationwide, selling a line of hundreds of video, CD and DVD products and handling order processing and tracking.
  • Developed more than 100 humanities-based lesson plans for the National Endowment for the Humanities' EDSITEment website for teachers.
  • Helped to convene over 500 leaders from the education, health, nutrition and physical education fields in Washington, D.C., for the ground-breaking 2002 Healthy Schools Summit, addressing the nation's childhood obesity crisis.
  • Researched, designed and launched a new service for PBS to help teachers navigate the wealth of public television resources of relevance to schools.
  • In addition to providing client services, MMS Education also offers several proprietary services and resources, including:
  • EdReach™ Online Database System — a powerful, customized CRM system for tracking contacts, orders and programs in the complex education market.
  • EdTrends™ — a highly customized monthly report that summarizes key trends and news to keep an organization, its staff, subsidiaries and board current on the changing education market and its impact on their audience and their programs.
  • Beyond "Reading First" Market Survey — a just-released report on how the No Child Left Behind Act and its requirement for scientifically based research is affecting the K-12 supplemental reading market.

What's ahead for the company? Keipper explains, "Our core mission is to help our clients understand, reach and ultimately make a positive impact in the education market — while achieving measurable, strategic goals. As MMS Education, we're poised to do just that."
