MMS Education was founded in 1977 as Media Management Services, Inc., by Ed Meell, a former educator. He initially envisioned a management consulting company, serving the educational publishing and communications industries. Clients soon asked for more than consulting advice and plans — they wanted help with implementation. The company expanded its infrastructure and leveraged its expertise to provide a full range of services tailored to the needs of specific projects and programs. In 2004, Media Management Services became known as MMS Education, a name that reflects the company's exclusive commitment to the education market.
