MMS Education Hosts Future Leaders for Take Your Child to Work Day

MMS Education hosts future leaders for Take Your Child to Work Day

The MMS Education leadership team was thrilled to welcome its employees’ children to participate in the national Take Your Child to Work Day initiative on Thursday, April 26, 2012.

The children, ages 8 to 15, took part in several activities throughout the morning to gain a better understanding of what their parents do during a typical work day at MMS Education. First they observed their parents in action, and then they conducted interviews to discover what types of skills and knowledge their parents utilize while performing their jobs.

A highlight of the day–for both the children and MMS employees–was when the future leaders provided input to several of MMS’s clients’ “cool” educational products and programs.  The kids were enthusiastic about the client products they were asked to evaluate, and were eager to share their feedback.  MMS employees were surprised to discover that each child has an interactive whiteboard in his or her classroom at school, and that they are quite adept at using them.  The morning wrapped up with a company-wide pizza party where the entire staff mingled with the kids.

Susan Meell, CEO and Chair of the organizing committee, shared, “We really enjoyed hosting the day and found it to be a very positive experience for the kids, their parents, and all of our employees. We hope we’ve helped the children to understand the important role their parents play for MMS–and the important role their own education plays in terms of their future careers.”
